H.C. Ganter Lantern Slides of Mammoth Cave and Vicinity, ca. late 1800s, early 1900s, 1908 and 1924.

There are thirty-eight (38) lantern slides. Several were taken by H.C. Ganter. The slides date from ca. late 1800s, early 1900s, 1908 and 1924. Each slide measures 3 1/2" x 4". Five (5) of the original forty-three (43) slides are missing. It is presumed they were damaged and removed from the collection. Their location is unknown. The slides were removed from their original wooden container and are in an acid free box and each slide is in an acid free photograph sleeve.

H.C. or Henry C. Ganter, 1844-1917, was the manager of the Mammoth Cave Hotel from 1888-1902. During some of his time as manager, he also was the agent of the cave.
